Shell Engineer- PTM Production Systems in Chennai, India

The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.

  • helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them.

  • sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach.

The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.

This role is intended to support the Asset’s PTM journey by providing technical expertise in the Wells and Production System remote monitoring area.

Purpose & Accountabilities

  • Carry out surveillance of Wells using EBS tools like Wells Tracker, PI etc. for Proactive Technical Monitoring.

  • Accountable for frontline wells and production systems monitoring via rule-based algorithm tools or manual monitoring.

  • Accountable for downhole failure identification and advise on well completion design change based on finding and analysis.

  • Responsible for well failure diagnostics and subsequent production optimization activities via Well Tracker

  • Support team with engineering recommendation and troubleshooting of identified anomalies.

  • Share and promote lessons learned opportunities that enhances monitoring for value.

  • Manage stakeholder’s expectation with respect to the deliverables and KPIs in PTM.

  • Network with counterparts and other levels of organization across the different operating units, data centers and develop external networks outside of TAO and Shell.

Skills & Requirements

  • University Degree in Petroleum/Chemical Engineering/Production Engineering.

  • Minimum 4+ years of overall working experience in Drilling &Completions/ Production operations/Wells/ Surveillance & Optimization in Oil & Gas, preferably Upstream operations in Gas/unconventional fields

  • Experience in remote monitoring of Wells/subsea/sub-surface facilities.

  • Experience in Asset Sentinel/Well Tracker is preferrable.

  • Knowledge of rotating machines and process performance and health monitoring.

  • Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.

  • A self-starter leader and reliable deliverer, with very good verbal and written skills in English, able to collaborate with people, and able to resist undue influence that might otherwise compromise integrity of data quality.
