Shell Counterparty and Financial Crime Advisor in Houston, Texas

What’s the role?

The Trading & Supply (T&S) has a strong culture of Compliance with stringent external obligations. Within this context, Counterparty Onboarding and Financial Crime risk are critical areas of focus. Given the dynamic regulatory landscape, excellence in Counterparty Lifecycle and Compliance Management (CLCM) is paramount. In addition to Business As Usual (BAU) Counterparty onboarding and lifecycle management, several CLCM and due-diligence initiatives are currently underway.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee due diligence requirements and Business Due Diligence (BDD) submissions for all T&S business lines, including two regulated entities (STASCO and STRM).

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the team, handling low-level escalations.

  • Manage all screening hits and adverse media, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements.

  • Responsible for producing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Management Information (MI) reports related to counterparty management processes within T&S.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting end-to-end counterparty management issues and familiarity with T&S business processes.

  • Understand the intricacies of the Shell T&S business and the products traded

  • Must be familiar with external regulatory Financial Crime Policies, Anti-money laundering practices, and the subjects covered in the T&S Financial Crime Policy Manual.

  • Be aware of external regulatory requirements impacting T&S operations.

  • Monitor and help ensure Risk-Free Trade (and manage any items that could potentially impact T&S compliance systems.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly MI reports for the Leadership Team, Compliance Leadership Team, and General Managers.

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 5 or more years of professional work experience

  • Significant experience in Know Your Customer end to end processes and ongoing regulatory requirements in a financial institution

  • Understanding of the customer lifecycle with a Trading company.

  • Certifications from International Compliance Association and Anti-money Laundering Certifications a plus

  • Proficiency in managing workflows and processes efficiently

  • Working knowledge of Know Your Customer Data Repositories

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, backed by robust data analysis.

  • Understanding of Financial Crime Risks and Issues, including knowledge of CDD and Sanctions regulatory requirements

  • Understanding of Product Development Roadmaps, Business Requirements and Agile Ways of Working.

  • Experience working alongside and managing internal IT projects

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
